STCW BASIC SAFETY TRAINIG

STCW stands for Standards of Training and Certification of Watch keeping. This training program is the minimum requirement needed to begin a career aboard a ship!

ELIGIBILITY

  • 10 th standard pass from government recognized board with subjects English, Mathematics & Science with 40% aggregate. English 40% in 10 th /12 th . OR 12 th standard (any stream) pass from government recognized board with 40% aggregate. English 40% at 10 th / 12 th but with subjects English, Mathematics & Science at 10 th . OR Pass in 2 year ITI course approved by DVET; with minimum 40% aggregate marks in final year of ITI & minimum 40% in English in 10th / 12th.
  • Age: 17 ½ years and not over 25 years on the date of commencement of training.
  • Eye sight: distance vision 6/6 in better eye and 6/9 in other eye and normal colour vision shall be tested by Ishihara test chart.
  • Medical Fitness Certificate from a Doctor Approved by DGS (Original + one photocopy)
  • 18 copies of passport size and 4 stamp size Photographs with White Shirt & Light Background.

G.P.RATING COURSES

GP Rating stands for General Purpose Rating. It is a 6 months long course. After completion of the course, candidates may join Merchant Navy ships as Deck or Engine crew.

DIPLOMA IN NAUTICAL SCIENCEResult

Other than B.Sc. Nautical Science course, Diploma version of Nautical Science is another course available on front of merchant navy aspirants. The course followed by 18 months of sea service will lead to 2nd mate foreign going certificate from the Ministry of Shipping, along with a B.Sc. Nautical Science Degree!

ELIGIBILITY

  • Indian National
  • 10+2/ equivalent (PCM 60%) OR B.Sc (PCM)/ B.Sc (Electronics with Physics as individual subject in one of the years) with marks not less than 60%, OR B.E./B.Tech from IIT or college recognized by AICTE with marks not less than 50%.
  • Age must be more than 17 years and not over 25 years on the date of commencement of training.
  • Eye sight: distance vision 6/6 in better eye and 6/9 in other eye and normal colour vision shall be tested by Ishihara test chart.
  • Medical Fitness Certificate from a Doctor Approved by DGS (Original + one photocopy)
  • 18 copies of passport size and 4 stamp size Photographs with White Shirt & Light Background.
  • Fees: Rs. 3,55,000/-

B.SC IN NAUTICAL SCIENCE

This one is a 3 years long Bachelor of Science Degree course. On completion of the course, candidates are awarded the Second Mates Foreign Going Certificate of Competency. This certificate is awarded by the Ministry of Shipping, India.

ELIGIBILITY

  • 10+2 equivalent (PCM 60%) and English Marks are to be 50% or more in 10th or 12th standard.
  • Age: up to 25 years on the date of commencement of training.
  • Eye sight: distance vision 6/6 in better eye and 6/9 in other eye and normal colour vision shall be tested by Ishihara test chart.
  • Medical Fitness Certificate from a Doctor Approved by DGS (Original + one photocopy)
  • 18 copies of passport size and 4 stamp size Photographs with White Shirt & Light Background.

B.E./B.TECH. MARINE ENGINEERING

This is a 4 years long Undergraduate Program. On completion of the program, successful candidates are provided Class 4 Marine Engineer Officer Certificate of Competency.

ELIGIBILITY

  • You must have successfully completed the Senior Secondary Examination (10+2) or its equivalent with:
    • At least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (P C M), and
    • At least 50% marks in English either in Class X or Class XII
  • Minimum age of a candidate shall be 17 years.
  • TMI encourages the participation of both genders without discrimination.
  • Only unmarried candidates will be considered.
  • The Institute has laid down detailed minimum physical fitness and medical standards. The candidate has to meet these standards to qualify for admission. You are advised to have yourself medically examined by competent doctors before applying. This will ensure that you meet the minimum requirements, which in turn will avoid disappointment at a later stage.
